Dogs are welcome on the Santa Fe, where developed areas follow the six-foot leash rule and much of the backcountry falls under county control rules.

Leashes are required in campgrounds, trailhead lots, and on interpretive trails. On trails like those off NM 475 to the ski basin, dogs must be leashed or under voice command under Santa Fe County rules.
